Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a chronic, long-term condition affecting the nerve cells in your body. It causes pain and sensitivity throughout your body, manifesting in your bones and muscles. While you may not have any apparent injury or damage, fibromyalgia pain comes from sensitive nerve cells that transmit feelings of pain to your brain.

The condition affects between 2 and 5 in every 100 people and is more commonly found in women than men. Symptoms may arise after an event like physical trauma or surgery or may occur gradually over time without any apparent trigger.

Understanding the mechanisms that lead to fibromyalgia is crucial for preventing or reversing symptoms. Our network of pain and dysfunction experts across Australia assists our team in establishing connections to help you on your journey to alleviate fibromyalgia symptoms.

Osteoporosis is a long-term condition in which the body’s creation of new bone doesn’t keep up with the loss of old bone. This decreases bone density, making bones more fragile and susceptible to fractures or breaks. This chronic condition is sometimes known as a “silent disease” because it has no real symptoms.

Vitamin and mineral blends are crucial in supporting bone strength and health. They provide essential nutrients and compounds for structural integrity and maintenance of bone tissue. While bone strength and mineralisation decline is common among older women, this issue extends beyond this demographic. Aging men and younger women may also face challenges with bone health due to factors such as gut function, dietary habits, and lifestyle choices.

These vital nutrients, such as vitamin D, are naturally found in food or can be synthesised through sunlight exposure. However, many individuals need to consume sufficient amounts of these nutrients, necessitating supplementation to achieve optimal levels, particularly if they are already experiencing decreased bone health. Furthermore, specific pharmaceutical medications and medical conditions may elevate the requirement for these nutrients beyond what can be obtained solely from dietary sources.

Understanding your risk of osteoporosis is crucial, and bone density scanning and imaging testing play a vital role in this. Osteoporosis is diagnosed through a bone density scan, also known as a DEXA scan, bone density test, bone mineral density test, or the medical term DXA test. This simple scan measures the bone density at your hip and spine.

Common Symptoms

  • Bones that break easily
  • Weight loss
  • Back pain
